Haweka, represented in Ireland by garage equipment specialists, Techplus, is helping truck operators by kitting them out with new alignment equipment to ensure they can support the latest vehicles.
The Axis500 ACC wheel aligner with additional calibration tools to cope with the new ACC and EBA systems now appearing on new trucks in the UK is being installed by Haweka in some of the major commercial companies in the UK.
Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) are advanced systems that help the driver to keep a safe distance from other traffic ahead. In order for truck dealers to set the adjustment on the radar sensors, the wheels and axles need to be correctly aligned. ACC and EBA is already appearing in the UK and Ireland and became mandatory from November 1 2015.
The new calibration tool, unique to Haweka, is also used to calibrate lane guard cameras – the system that monitors when the vehicle leaves its lane without the driver having indicated.
The Axis500 is the leading alignment system in the UK, taking less than 10 minutes to accurately measure every angle on a truck in the as driven position – there is no need to lift the vehicle. The alignment system can be used on twin steer, rigid, semi-trailers and buses.
