The ITWRA has been central in challenging the introduction of a full PRI for the tyre industry in Ireland, which the association says will have a serious negative effect on business.
The ITWRA has requested a meeting with Denis Naughten, Minister of Communications, Climate Action and Environment on the introduction of a full PRI.
The ITWRA says it will take legal action in the Irish Courts, and has instructed its solicitors, William Fry & Co. to make a report to the European Commission.
Health and safety is also on top of the agenda. The ITWRA says a logical approach to health and safety documents, staff handbooks and employment law are necessary to avoid unnecessary insurance claims. Expertise is required and all members can avail of support from the association in this area.
The ITWRA is open to working with all other organisations and Government Departments for the betterment and protection of the industry, and is currently communicating with government on tyre labelling issues.
