Bridgestone an OE option for Skoda Enyaq iV

Bridgestone, will be exhibiting at this year’s Auto Trade EXPO, has developed bespoke Turanza Eco tyres with Enliten Technology for Skoda’s new Enyaq iV.

The Skoda Enyaq iV is the latest in a line of VW Group’s electric models to feature tyres with Enliten Technology, following the Audi Q4 e-tron, Volkswagen ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, and the Cupra Born.

For the Enyaq iV, Turanza Eco tyres with Enliten Technology are available in 18, 19, 20, and 21 inch size.

According to Bridgestone, this technology reduces tyre rolling resistance by up to 30 per cent and weight by up to 20 per cent, which will help the Enyaq iV offer up to 529km electric range.

Tyres with Enliten Technology are also lighter, requiring up to 2kg less raw materials per tyre.

Bridgestone also developed the tyres for the Enyaq iV using its proprietary Virtual Tyre Development technology, which reduces the number of prototype tyres as well as the amount of physical testing required.

Virtual Tyre Development can cut raw material consumption and CO2 emissions during the development phase by up to 60 per cent, while speeding up time to market by up to 50 per cent – overall making tyre development more sustainable, efficient, accurate and flexible.

Bridgestone sees electric mobility as a huge opportunity to reduce CO2 emissions. EV tyres represent around 11 per cent of Bridgestone EMIA’s total OE line-up for passenger cars – rising from just four per cent in 2019. This figure is expected to reach over 20 per cent in 2024.

The Auto Trade EXPO takes place from Saturday and Sunday, October 15-16 at the RDS Simmonscourt in Dublin.
